November 2, 2005—Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) announced today third quarter 2005 net revenues of $46.6 million, a decrease of 5% compared to $48.9 million in the third quarter of 2004. Pro forma earnings (before amortization of intangibles from acquisitions, in-process research and development charges, impairment on investments, and adjustments for changes to the tax rate, as applicable) were $7.0 million, compared to $11.2 million in the third quarter of 2004. Pro forma diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.14, compared to $0.22 in the same quarter of 2004. The Company generated $4.0 million of cash from operations and its ending cash and cash equivalents, short-term investments and long term marketable securities were $246.3 million.

Company Achieves Record Second Quarter Revenues
Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) announced today second quarter 2005 net revenues of $44.4 million, an increase of 25% compared to $35.7 million in the second quarter of 2004. Pro forma earnings (before amortization of intangibles from acquisitions and adjustments for changes to our tax rate, as applicable) were $8.0 million, compared to $9.5 million in the second quarter of 2004. Pro forma diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.16, compared to $0.19 in the same quarter of 2004. The Company generated $16.8 million of cash from operations and its ending cash and cash equivalents, short-term investments and long term marketable securities were $268.3 million.

William A. Krepick appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board
Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) today announced the appointment of Alfred J. (Fred) Amoroso as its President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding William A. Krepick who has held the position since October 2001. Mr. Krepick has been appointed to the newly created position of Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Amoroso, who has also been elected to the Board of Directors, will take over as President and CEO effective immediately.

Macrovision Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) announced today that it has filed suit against Sima Products Corporation ("Sima") and Interburn Enterprises Inc. ("Interburn"). The lawsuit charges that Sima’s "Video Enhancers," which are principally used to allow consumers to make unauthorized copies of copyrighted DVDs, infringe Macrovision’s patented copy protection technology and also violate the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). These products include, but are not limited to, products currently marketed under the names CT-1, CT-100, CT-2, CT-200, and SCC-2. The lawsuit further charges that Interburn products infringe Macrovision’s intellectual property and the DMCA.

Pro forma diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.22. The Company generated $15.1 million of cash from operations and its ending cash and cash equivalents, short-term investments and long term marketable securities were $265.2 million.
