NEW YORK- 5/31/2006 - Macrovision® Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) today announced that The Taunton Press, leading publishers of magazines and books for more than thirty years, has deployed eRights Suite to enable registration and sell subscriptions to digital content on its newly launched FineWoodworking.com site.
Designed for serious hobbyists, pros and weekend warriors alike, the new site is a comprehensive resource for woodworking advice, how-to video instructions, incisive tool reviews, great project ideas and live forums with expert woodworkers. The first in a series of planned major overhauls to the Taunton magazine Web sites,
FineWoodworking.com sets the bar high for enthusiast magazines that have made the move to the Web.
FineWoodworking.com contains Web-only exclusive content as well as repurposed material from the print magazine.
"We're very excited about the new FineWoodworking.com site and the premium content it offers subscribers," said Bob Steigerwald, Manager of Web Technology, The Taunton Press. "With eRights Suite, we now have the ability to generate additional revenue and increase productivity. The sophisticated registration system both authorizes access and helps us track user behavior for intelligent marketing initiatives. Additionally, we can offer and manage subscriptions through eRights Suite's commerce application."
RightAccess, the access control product within eRights Suite, provides The Taunton Press with authorization, authentication, delegated administration, product segmentation and registration capabilities. RightCommerce, the commerce product within eRights Suite, allows Taunton to sell digital content using varied business models, including pay-per-view, bundles and subscriptions. eRights Suite is also integrated with Taunton's existing print fulfillment systems, a key challenge for many publishers.
"The Taunton Press is the latest addition to our growing list of magazine customers," said Fred Amoroso, CEO, Macrovision. "With eRights Suite, The Taunton Press has myriad opportunities to grow its online enterprise, whether selling access to text-based content or audio and video."
eRights Suite, available both as an installed or hosted (ASP) solution, allows organizations to effectively control and commercialize digital goods and services, including text, audio, video, streaming media, games and software applications.
