SANTA CLARA, Calif. – 6/6/2006 - Macrovision® Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN) today announced that two of its solutions won top awards at the 2006 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Awards.
Macrovision's RightCommerce software won "Best eCommerce Solution" while FLEXnet Publisher again earned "Best Digital Rights Management (DRM) Solution" at the gala event held at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco on May 16.
Digital goods and services providers require the ability to test and implement multiple business models and pricing options to manage the entire customer lifecycle. RightCommerce, the ecommerce solution within Macrovision's eRights Suite, is optimized to meet these complex needs. It allows media, entertainment and software companies to market and sell Web-based content, audio, video, streaming media, games and software applications, which can increase sales and customer retention. Additionally, the software gives businesses the ability to identify new revenue streams with advanced subscription, billing and payments, customer care and business intelligence features.
For software and hardware vendors around the world, managing efficient product packaging, licensing and entitlement is challenging but essential. With FLEXnet Publisher, the packaging process is streamlined and companies can automate their licensing lifecycle across development, customer support, sales and fulfillment. They can tailor and license their products with the features and functionality that best fit their customers and markets and protect their solutions from unauthorized use. With these capabilities, they are better prepared to reduce costs, remain competitive and maintain higher customer satisfaction.
"We are honored to have been recognized in these well-respected categories at the CODiE Awards this year," said Fred Amoroso, CEO of Macrovision. "The RightCommerce win for 'Best eCommerce Solution' validates our investment in eMeta and solutions that help companies move from physical to digital distribution. Additionally, FLEXnet Publisher's 'Best DRM Solution' award underscores Macrovision's noted strength – helping companies ease the process of licensing and packaging their software and hardware solutions."
The CODiE Awards – established in 1986 and given each year by the SIIA – utilize both journalist and peer-company reviews to identify the leaders and innovators in 71 categories across the software, digital content and education technology industries. Hundreds of technology executives attended the event to recognize and congratulate the winners.
"This 21st Annual CODiE Awards continues our tradition of celebrating the best products in the software and information industry," said Ken Wasch, President of SIIA. "Being a winner among so many fine nominees is a solid achievement. I congratulate all of the companies."
This year's winners were chosen from more than 1,026 nominations – the most in the history of the CODiEs – for the excellence of their products, services, corporate leadership and philanthropy. Judges for the first round of voting included journalists from industry trade publications, technology writers from mainstream publications, consultants and other industry experts. SIIA member companies voted in the second round of selection. A complete list of winning companies is available at
