Should I update the driver?
If you have been directed to this page in response to a support request or by Windows® Error Reporting (Microsoft® Online Crash Analysis), you should update the driver.
This driver update also addresses new public reports of a vulnerability in the secdrv.sys driver on supported editions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Microsoft is actively monitoring the situation. Upon completion of this review, Microsoft will take the appropriate action to help protect customers. This will include providing a security update through Microsoft’s monthly release process. Microsoft Security Advisory 944653 documents this issue. This vulnerability does not affect Windows Vista. Customers should apply the update if running Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.
